Press Release - 20th February 2008

UK Wood Recycling has been awarded an accolade for its recycling work in the North East.

UK Wood Recycling (UKWR), won the recycling category at the North East Environment and Energy Awards.

Geoff Hadfield, Managing Director of UK Wood Recycling was delighted with the result.

He said: “UK Wood Recycling is a new company set up specifically to provide biomass fuel made from recycled wood to the new SembCorp Biomass Power Station.

“We have been working extremely hard over the past few years to get to this point and I am delighted we have been recognised for our contribution to recycling in the North East.”

UK Wood Recycling was recognised as the best recycler in the Teeside area at the Renew Tees Valley Awards. The award was presented to Gary Jones, Site Manager for the company, which is based next to the Wilton International site at Redcar on Teesside.

UKWR Recycling was officially opened last year by Lord Truscott, the Government’s then Energy Minister. The company will supply 80,000 tonnes a year of biomass fuel the SembCorp Biomass Power Station, which officially opened last November.
